DEFINING THE FUTURE: NEW WAYS OF DOING BUSINESS
Had your fill of gloomy economic news? Now is the time to look beyond recession to recovery, future growth and success.
At a time when recent economic conditions have been the toughest for generations, we need to focus on what New Zealand companies can do to change business for the better.
New Zealand is well positioned in the post-recession world and this Summit will look at the trends, the opportunities, and the new ways of doing business to build your companies’ growth and manage the recovery period.
The 2010 Summit features an exciting array of local and international presenters including:
Rod Oram
New ways of doing business
A new breed of businesses is emerging here and overseas. They are pioneers of products and services that make sense in a world under increasing economic, environmental and social strain. To meet these critical consumer needs, they are developing new business models and skills to collaborate with other companies and to build relationships with customers. Potentially many New Zealand companies could join this movement, thanks to the natural advantages of our economy and environment.
Julian Mellentin
The key trends in health and how to connect to them
The global recession demonstrated just how strong and enduring the key trends are in our industry. These trends include digestive health, ‘natural health’ and many others, reflecting the huge fragmentation of the market for health and nutrition. The recession also showed just how much the over-40s (and particularly the over 50s) are driving the nutritional market. Meeting their needs enabled many premium-priced products’ sales to increase significantly, despite the recession. This presentation will look at the trends, business lessons and gaps in the market that are relevant for NZ natural product companies.

Future trends in Functional Foods, Beauty Foods, Nutricosmetics & Supplements
Brain, heart, and eye health, as well as weight management are growing opportunities. Effective functional foods, beverages, and dietary supplements, with proven claims, are needed to meet the demand. International case studies will be presented demonstrating the commercial success of such products. A sneak preview will be provided on the latest survey and research on cognitive function and mood, nutricosmetics and beauty foods, and some exciting possibilities for calming beverages. Giving consumers convenient, effective, natural products that allow an informed choice is the best way to help people help themselves.
Jeff Hilton
Predicting the future of branding
Marketing theory and practice are on a fast track into the future. The consumer for natural products is rapidly evolving. New innovative dosage and delivery forms are emerging. Web/online strategy has been re-invented. Retailing is changing to meet consumer needs and social media is shaping the media landscape almost beyond recognition. Like it or not, marketing is getting more complicated and unpredictable. But also a lot more fun and interesting. I want to share emerging trends in branding, public relations and social media that every marketer should know in order to be successful in today’s marketplace.
